Crafts and arts are an integral part of our heritage. This department includes the performing, lingual, and visual arts, crafts, and sewing. Our activities in this are include the supporting the High School Art Department, Interlochen, Federation contests, Art in the Park, the Annual Craft Bazaar and many other things.
To heighten respect for the home, where we develop and adopt the values that guide us through life. Family living, consumer responsibilities, gerontology, health, and ethics. Some of our projects include Girlstown, help a needy family, the Kidney Foundation and the Fostrian Manor.
To study not only the historical background of people in other lands, but to have an understanding of their social and economic programs. CARE, the United Nations, UNICEF, the International Institute, and an annual international potluck dinner are some of our ways of understanding others.
This department's main purpose is to encourage everyone to become more conservation minded. This includes the environmental responsibility and management of natural resources. Our projects have been planting of flowers in Cornwell Park, Earth Day activities.
Become well informed in all areas of education. These include communications, continuing education, libraries, leadership development, public education, and scholarship. Some of our activities in education include a leadership seminar, the Flushing Library, and the learning disabilities program. Adopt 1st graders and D.A.R.E.
To work with others in the community to assist in solving problems that come under public affairs. The American Indian, community improvement, crime prevention, justice and corrections, safety, the emerging women, child abuse, and the Historical Society are several things that we are involved in.
